According to C.C.R.S.M.’s mission, the Centre inaugurates in 2017 its biennial Academic
Forum on Musicology inviting music scholars from Europe and around the Mediterranean
region, with strong interests in European and Mediterranean rich musical heritage. The event’s
topics adopt the topics of the study groups of the International Musicological Society (IMS) to
which the Centre is a corporate member while welcomes new ones.

We hope that this Forum will engender a sense of shared academic community, facilitate
the creation of personal and institutional regional, European and extended networks, develop
consortiums for the development of innovative projects within the frames of the European
programmes or elsewhere and generally promote intercultural exchange, recent research findings
dissemination and professional collaboration.

These are the some of the topics: Opera in European art music; Digital Musicology
Early Music and the New World music;  Euro-Mediterranean Relationships; art music in the
Mediterranean region. The Musical Theatre; Music and Cultural Studies / Musik und
Kulturwissenschaft; Music and Media; orientalism and western art music; Musical Iconography;
Music and Musical Instruments; Music, Memory, and Migration; Shostakovich and his Epoch:
Contemporaries, Culture, and the State; Stravinsky between East and West; Tablature in Western
Music; place, locality, ideology and history; Transmission of Knowledge as a Primary Aim in
